Andrej Martin claimed doubles title in Como

Andrej Martin, Como, challenger title

EMPIRE Tennis Academy member Andrej Martin won the Challenger doubles title in Italian Como partnering Roman Jebavy from Czech Republic.

Toreno Citta di Como was played on clay with total prize money 42 500 eur. Andrej Martinlost in the first singles round against Russian Rublev in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 3-6 but he was successful in doubles.
On Saturday, September 3rd, he played for the title together with Czech Roman Jebavy against Nils Langer and Gerald Melzer. Czech-Slovakian duo won after super tie-break 3-6, 6-1, 10-5. "We laughed with Roman that we either loose in the first round or we win the whole tournament," said Andrej Martin for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.
"We both play well now and I am happy we also proved it here in Italy. Roman is a very funny guy, so it is always great, if we can win the title and have some fun. I hope this title can help me in singles as well. Next week I play Challenger in Sevilla, Spain." It is third title for Martin with Jebavy, but before those were Futures in 2012 in Croatia and in 2009 in Czech Republic. Martin owns 11 challenger titles in doubles.

Andrej Martin himself has played a very successful season so far. The 26-year-old finished runner up at the Konzum Croatia Open in Umag, made it to the third round at the Olympics in Rio and broke into the top 100 for the first time in his career. "This year I made a step forward in my career. I achieved some really good results. I gained a big amount of experience this season and I hope that I can build on it in order to continue with my good level of tennis," Andrej Martin added for www.tennis-tourtalk.com and will next play the Copa Sevilla Challenger as well as the Davis Cup Play-Offs for Slovakia in Australia.
