Anna Blinkova, ITF 25K title, Westende, Belgium

EMPIRE Tennis Academy player Anna Blinkova played great tournament Ladies Tennis Cup in Belgian town Westende. 25 000 USD tournament was played on hard courts and she won the singles title.

Only 17 years old talented Russian Anna Blinkova, EMPIRE Tennis Academy member, lost only one set on the way to the final. In quarterfinal, Blinkova beat Croatian Ana Vrljic 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Final was scheduled for Sunday 3 pm and our player crossed paths with talented 19 years old, WTA No. 253 Greek Valentini Grammatikopoulou. Russian player was down 0-4, 2-5 in the first set but was strong enough to win the match in two sets 7-5, 6-2. It was first 25 000 USD title for Ana. Until now she only won one tournament 10 000 USD event in Stuttgart in January this year. For winning in Westende, she will get 50 points into the WTA ranking and will move up to the No. 284.
"The conditions were not easy. We hardly had place to stay together with my mum. Town is very close to the sea and all the hotels and flats are fully fit. Weather was also bad. Very very windy. I played against Greek in the final, I know her well. She plays until the end, fights for every ball. I did not start well in the first set; I was quickly 0-5 down. Then I tried to be more patient, take one point after another and hit the court. Afterwards, my approach was much better, tactics worked as well. I have very good impressions of my game after playing there," said Anna Blinkova for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.
