Doubles specialist Igor Zelenay becomes new member of EMPIRE Tennis Academy

After singing contract with Andrej Martin, EMPIRE Tennis Academy in Trnava welcomes another Slovakian Davis Cup player, Igor Zelenay!  Multiple challengers winner in doubles and former Top 50 ATP player will also play extraleague matches for TC EMPIRE Trnava.

Igor Zelenay signed three years contract with the club in Trnava with possibility of extending it by two more years. "Igor Zelenay becomes new member of EMPIRE Tennis Academy on November, 1st. We will provide him all necessary facilities in our club to make him feel comfortable. He will have experienced coach Rene Hanak to his disposal to help him prepare successful training process. We will be happy to see Igor‘s achievements. We want to help him to try and fight his way back into the TOP 50 in ATP doubles ranking," said Miroslav Hlavna, director of board of TC EMPIRE Trnava for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.

Igor Zelenay finds himself 89th in the ATP doubles ranking, in July 2009 he reached his career best - No. 50. He played nineteen times at Grand Slams. He won 23 challenger titles in doubles. In 2015, he won four, his career maximum in a year. "I moved to a new club, because I did have no facilities in my previous club. In TC EMPIRE I have what it takes to continue successfully my tennis career. It is closer to me to Trnava than going every day to Bratislava from Nove Mesto nad Vahom, where I live. Things are going very well in Trnava. Club is growing bigger and bigger, they are building another tennis hall, which suits perfectly for top tennis," explained his recent steps 33-years old Igor Zelenay, who will be practicing in the club under coach Rene Hanak.

"Maybe he will travel with me to several tournaments. Now I will play in Eckental, later in Bratislava and Brescia. I am still fighting for the main draw of Australian Open, I need few points to reach top 80. The higher I will be in the rankings, the better doubles specialist I can find," said about his plans Igor Zelenay, who will join his fellow Davis Cup colleague Andrej Martin.

They both won together doubles title in Italian Cordenonse, and they both played in the Davis Cup team for Slovakia. In Romanian Constanca, they won important doubles tie in July. "We will play together in the extraleague matches for TC EMPIRE Trnava. Maybe we will play together doubles and who knows, hopefully it will help to bring points and wins for TC EMPIRE," concluded with smile Igor Igor Zelenay, who has six Davis Cup appearances for Slovakia on his tally.
