Hanak with Novikova and Fekete in Moscow

EMPIRE Tennis Academy member Maria Novikova and TC EMPIRE Trnava club member Janos Fekete played at Kremlin Junior 2015 in Moscow. Under 14 tournament is part of Tennis Europe circuit. Rene Hanak, one of the academy coaches was accompanying both in Moscow.

Maria Novikova is currently No. 53 in Tennis Europe U14 ranking amongst girls. Janos Fekete is No. 74 amongst boys.

Fekete had a bye in the first singles round, as the 14th seed. After that he beat home player Peter Kaspuskin in two sets 6-2, 6-3. His next opponent was also Russian, fourth seed Egor Manko. Fekete showed great performance, was not afraid of the favourite and beat him in two sets 6-3, 6-3! "Janos played really well, attacking tennis, moves well on the court. He was very convincing against both home players," commented on Fekete’s performance coach Rene Hanak from Moscow.

In quarterfinals, Fekete challenged Finish Peeta Pohjola, 12th seed. Janos did not have his day, could not repeat performances from first two matches and lost in two sets 1-6, 2-6. "It did not work out, he was stunned by the Finnish player. Janos had a bad start into the game and could not get into the match. He did not play well today, but never mind, we’ll work hard to get rid of the mistakes. Next time, it will surely be better," added positively Rene Hanak.

Maria Novikova made third round in Moscow, beating Russian Daria Soldatova 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(2) in second round, and losing to Ukrainian Daria Snigur in the third round 2-6, 1-6.

Maria Novikova reached the semi-final of doubles along with compatriot Charaeva. They were fighting for the final against second seed home pair Krupenina, Tikhonova.
