Kasatkina together with Vesnina ended 41 matches streak of Hingis and Mirza

Daria Kasatkina, Doha, Qatar

Daria Kasatkina is in full swing, at the moment playing at Qatar Total Open. She lost her 2nd round singles match, despite having 3 match points. In doubles, she reached the semi-finals, after great triumph in the quarterfinals together with Elena Vesnina.

WTA Premier 5 Qatar Total Open in Doha with total prize money 2 818 000 USD is played on hard courts Plexicushion. Daria Kasatkina played first singles round with qualifier from China Qiang Wang (No. 94 in the WTA rankings). It was their first head to head match and Daria won it in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.

In 2nd round, Daria Kasatkina played against Number 10 in the World Roberta Vinci (33), recent WTA St. Petersburg winner. It was also their first head to head match. More experienced Vinci (US Open 2015 finalist) prevailed at the end of dramatic three setter, following three missed match points by Kasatkina. "It’s a pity. Of course, Roberta Vinci is more experienced player, but we shall not look for excuse. Daria did more wrong decisions, she did not look very concentrated since start of the second set. Vinci made most of it. We need to sit down with Daria, watch the video and work hard on these things not to happen again," said EMPIRE Tennis Academy's coach Vladimir Platenik.

Co-No.1 doubles team Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza had not lost a match since last August at the Western & Southern Open, but their 41-match winning streak came to a sudden halt at the hands of Russian duo Elena Vesnina and Daria Kasatkina 2-6, 6-4, 10-5. "It's unbelievable for me," Daria Kasatkina said for the www.wtatennis.com website and she added:"It's something huge because it's just my third WTA doubles tournament and we beat Sania and Martina. For me, it's something unbelievable." In the semifinals, they lost to Hao-Ching Chan & Yung-Jan Chan (Taipei) 6-3 6-7(5) 8-10

Doubles partnering: Elena Vesnina
1R: Vera Dushevina (RUS) / Katerina Siniakova (CZE) 6-4, 7-5
2R: Andreja Klepac / Katarina Srebotnik (SLO) 6-4 6-4
QF: Martina Hingis / Sania Mirza (IND) 2-6 6-4 10-5
