Kasatkina wins 50K title in France

Daria Kasatkina, Vladimir Platenik, Saint-Malo, France

Member of EMPIRE Tennis Academy and trainee of Vladimir Platenik and recently successful US Open participant Daria Kasatkina continues in great performances. In French town of Saint-Malo she won 50k USD title on clay event called L’OPEN EMERAUDE SOLAIRE, her most prestigious career title.

L’OPEN EMERAUDE SOLAIRE in French north-western town Saint-Malo had additionally hospitality along with 50K USD prize money. Sixth seed player beat Slovenian Kolar 6-2, 6-4 in the first round, followed by exactly same win over Russian Kromacheva. In quarterfinals, Daria Kasatkina met second seed, Estonian Kaia Kanepi. Kanepi used to be world No. 89 in WTA rankings, in August 2012 reached her maximum, No. 12 in the rankings and she owns four WTA titles. Daria Kasatkina beat her in three set, after losing the first one.

In the semi-final, Daria Kasatkina  played against Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez. Russian player was successful and beat her in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. "Daria likes to play on clay, that’s why we have chosen to go to France for two tournaments after US OPEN. Unfortunately, we did not make it onto the first one, because of good result at US Open, but I think we did well to take a good rest before playing the second one. We practiced a little bit and came here. She played exceptionally well in her first two matches, tournaments on hard helped her. Daria tries to play more aggressively, with more spin and it works. She seemed to be bit tired and last two matches were more about determination, but we try to prepare her for the final together with her brother Alex,“ said Vladimir Platenik for www.empire-tennis-academy.com.

Preparations for the singles final were superb, because Daria Kasatkina won against German Laura Siegemund 7-5, 7-6(4)! "Final was nervous. Daria was nervous, because she played for the Top 100 in WTA ranking. Additionally, I think, mentally it is too much for her recently, but fortunately, she handles it,“ commented on her final success coach Vladimir Platenik. Kasatkina travels to Linz for WTA tournament in mid-October. She has earned 100 WTA points into the ranking for her title in France and entered the Top 100 for the first time in her career - she is No. 93.
