Kupkova has the Slovak title, Banczi was in the quaterfinal

Two members of the EMPIRE Tennis Academy Tamara Kupkova and Viktor Banczi were successful at the Slovak Indoor Championship in Piestany and Bratislava which was held in the half of February 2015. Tamara Kupkova has gained U18 Slovak singles title, 14-years old Banzci was in the quarter final of the U18 Slovak Championship.

Banczi played against one year older David Juras in the 1st round, who has retired from the match when he was down 3-5. In the 2nd round, Banczi won against 3 years older and 5th seeded player Ivan Pous, even though he was down 3-6, 2-5. "Viktor showed great and combative performance and won 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. Viktor was struggling with hard serve of his opponent, but his performance was gradually improving and he beat the rival with his typically active play. It was really a good win," Juraj Jancovic evaluated Banczi´s performance. In the quarterfinal, Banczi played against Selecky, 3 years older boy again. "He was already down 2-4, but he was improving his game and gained 1st set. He won it 7-5. Then rival started playing excellently, played active with minimum errors and Viktor was already tired after his last 3 sets of hard fights. But it is a great success to be in quaterfinal of the U18 Slovak Indoor Championship already in the age of 14," added Jancovic.

Kupkova: The champion of Slovakia

Tamara Kupkova, who has gained indoor title, according to the trainer Martin Durdik, was showing desire for overall win already from the start of the tournament and had responsible attitude towards the matches. „She exposed her qualities and improvements in all parts, technical and physical. In a very good match against Nikola Dolakova in the semifinal, Tamara won almost after 3 hours 6-3 3-6 7-6(3). The semifinal was really nervous, she had 2 match points and 5-3 lead in 3rd set, but then it has changed. Suddenly she was down 5-6 but she tied to 6-6. In the tiebreak, she was leading 5-0 already and advanced to the final,“ said Durdik about semifinal.

Coach had expected a tensive final match, in which her rival was younger and talented Adriana Senkarova. „Tamara had to and Adriana was able to win in the final. The moments of great tension were changing with combative performances. During the whole match, Adriana was showing that she knows how to fight. The beginning of the 1st set was dramatic, but Tamara won it with persistent play 6-3. "The beginning of the 2nd set was good for Tamara, she was up already 2-0, but Adriana fought back. Tamara lost concentration a little, it had influence on 2nd set loss, but in the 3rd she started to play more actively and responsibly. She was leading 3-1 and she was also leading by 2 games till the end of the match. She showed her fighting spirit and her brave heart," added Durdik.

To her gold medal, Kupkova also added the silver medal in doubles with Timea Pavlickova, who is another member of the EMPIRE Tennis Academy.
