Andrej Martin, Montevideo, Uruguay, Hans Podlipnik-Castillo

Member of EMPIRE Tennis Academy Andrej Martin played at the last tournament on his South American tour. He played in Santiago, Lima, Bogota, Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

Challenger Uruguay Open in Montevideo is financed by total prize money of 50 000 US dollars plus hospitality and is played on clay. Andrej Martin played opponent with similar ATP ranking in the first round. Brazilian Andre Ghem was at No. 149 when submitting entry into the tournament, Martin one higher, No .148 in the ATP rankings. Andrej Martin beat seven years older opponent in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, in a match interrupted by rain delays.

In second round, Andrej Martin played against Argentinian Facundo Arguello, tournament sixth seed and beat him comfortably in two sets 6-2, 6-1 in just 56 minutes. In quarterfinals he met Spaniard Inigo Cervantes. Unfortunately Andrej did not make revenge for three losses and recorded another defeat, this time in two sets 3-6, 3-6.

Andrej Martin made it to the doubles semi-final together with Hans Podlipnik-Castillo, where they fought for the final against Galdos/Gonzalez from Peru and Argentina. Andrej Martin with Podlipnik-Castillo beat them 6-4, 6-2 to reach the final, which was scheduled for Saturday.
