Pavel Shumeiko won the singles title in Ukraine

The member of EMPIRE Tennis Academy in Trnava Pavel Shumeiko who is coached by Jaroslav Kormys from the same Academy won his first ever junior title in his homeland. Sixteen years old Pavel has answered us couple of questions after his success.

How was the tournament, which match was the toughest? And how difficult was the final?
"I have had a very great tournament. Although I got injured before tournament, I am grateful that I could play it and everything was OK. In my opinion, the final was the toughest match. My opponent was playing good and I was loosing 6-4 2-0 during the match. But I told myself to fight till the end and that helped me to win the match. Of course, thanks to the EMPIRE Tennis Academy in Trnava. I had a whole June preparation and it really improved my tennis. I started to feel more confident on court and I can control my game and play how I want."

Is it better for you to play the tournament in Ukraine or you feel the pressure and it is more complicated for you?
"Playing tournament in Ukraine is hard, because you know almost all players from the childhood and you need to win and play very good to prove that you are one of the best in your country. On the other hand, Ukraine is my homeland and I feel familiar atmosphere that helps to feel more confident. Also all my family comes to cheer for me and it also helps."

What is your next schedule?
"After Lviv I gonna play more tournaments till September, when the tennis season allows you to play a lot and gain an experience. My next tournament is ITF 4 category in Czech Republic in Veska."
