Rebecca Sramkova wins first 100 000 USD title in France

Rebecca Sramkova, 100 000 USD title, France

EMPIRE Tennis Academy member Rebecca Sramkova won Engie Open De Biarritz Basque in French town of Biarritz. It is her first 100 000 USD tournament win. Her most precious trophy of her career.

BIARRITZ OLYMPIQUE TENNIS was played on clay. Rebecca Sramkova was number eight seed and she beat Spaniard Pout-Tio, Serbian Stojanovic and in quarterfinal number three seed Carin Witthoeft, World No. 85 from Germany.

On Saturday, Rebecca Sramkova played with Romanian Sorana Cirstea. She had negative head to head with the Romanian player. She lost both their matches this year in January on hard in Brazil. However the revenge was sweet and Rebecca won this time in two sets 6-3, 7-5. "The 100K tournaments are the gateway to the WTA Tour. Usually, the are at least six players from the Top 100 which are participating in these events. It’s a good opportunity to play against them. It’s a good feeling to win against them, it gives me confidence. Carina Witthoeft, Sorana Cirstea or Parmentier are the tennis players which are capable to win two or three rounds at the WTA event. I’m looking forward that my WTA rankings is good for the bigger tournaments and I will play it more regularly. Tashkent, Linz, and Luxembourg – those are WTA tournaments for the next weeks," said Sramkova for the www.empire-tennis-academy.com website.
Martina Trevisan was her final opponent. Sramkova was on top of her game to win the battle in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. It was her first tournament title from 100 000 USD tournament. Until now she had two 25 000 titles and one 15 000 USD title and one 10 000 USD title. Rebecca Sramkova will be awarded with 140 points into WTA ranking. She will be world No. 124, her new career maximum.
